HF 544 – Establishing plasma gasification as a preferred waste management practice
FLOOR ACTION:
HF 544 adds waste conversion technologies to preferred methods of solid waste management. Waste conversion technologies take solid waste and convert them into usable materials through anaerobic digestion, plasma gasification, pyrolysis and other technologies. The conversion methods do not incinerate the waste but give it a second life, which diverts waste from landfill disposal operations. The bill returned to the House after the Senate adopted an amendment requiring businesses that engage in waste conversion processes to apply for a permit from the Department of Natural Resources.
